What is SOMA?

SOMA is an Anglican based mission agency, which began after a prophetic vision in 1978 -

"..to care for the nervous system of the Body of Christ."

We believe that men and women’s greatest need is to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and to live in the power of the Holy Spirit.

SOMA prepares and sends mission teams of adults or young people from one culture to another. The teams stay only for short periods to emphasise that the purpose is to equip the local church. By working with leaders, the whole church can be reached.

SOMA brings Christian leaders to minister on their own in other countries, or to take part in team visits.

SOMA encourages Christian leaders to visit parishes in other countries for two or three weeks through "Partners in Renewal" schemes.

SOMA seeks to work within the structures of the Anglican Communion to encourage the development of a renewal perspective in the Anglican Church.

SOMA organises and participates in conferences for leaders in the Renewal Movement world-wide, and works very closely with national renewal organisations.

Below is a video greeting from Bishop Richard Ellena to people planning to go on a SOMA Mission.
